Is this guy for real?  He made some good movies but he seems to have lost  his sense of normal thinking. May be he is stoned all the time. Check his tweets on twitter. 

Some tweets on Ganesha may hurt the sensibilities of religious.  Why would a movie director irritate his likely audience? 

this guy seems weirder than Robin Williams. I am not sure if verma's story will end well.

He did say he's asking the questions out of ignorance and innocence. He is a telugu. There are so many telugu experts on the subject. They could've easily clarified his doubts had he asked them with an open mind. Garikapati garu is the right one for him. He's is very rational with offbeat bhavalu.
