interesting - i have never enjoyed broccoli with indian spices. i like it blanched and then tossed with a lot of garlic - green and crunchy.

We just saute them with red onions and little bit of turmeric/chilli powders. We like it crunchy and mix it with rice, you got 'broccoli rice' and add a bit of ghee and children's lunch is ready.

When I cook South Indian food, I seldom use vegetables like broccoli or brussel sprouts in sambar, koottu or poriyal. Somehow they don't seem to belong in the traditional recipes. That said, I do like broccoli soup western style.
