1) kale salad with a sesame oil - lemon based dressing of my own making. here is the dressing recipe: whole foods market sesame oil (2 tbsps) + juice from two medium sized lemons + 1 tbsp dijon mustard + 1 tea spoon szechwan chili oil.

2) trader joe's garlic naan with my now famous baingan ka bharta.

as for #3, i don't think i have tasted plain and simple yogurt quite like this anywhere in the US. the tangy taste took me back to my childhood in TN. i am going to use a bit of this yogurt culture and try and make my own yogurt.

the greatest yogurt in the world is from bulgaria imo. it's very similar in taste & texture to desi style yogurt made in villages in earthen pots with higher fat content grassfed buffalo milk & the particular culture they use over there. it's the only one I use to make yogurt these days.

nothing even comes close to the nostalgic value of eating that yogurt with rice & fiery red mango pickle off one those heavy, rustic plates.
