Former Foreign Secretary A.P. Venkateswaran (85) passed away at a private
hospital


He resigned from his post in January 1987, after he was snubbed by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Mr. Venkateswaran had said that his resignation had been a spontaneous action as he had always believed that life without honour was no living at all.
