My observations and experience from Singapore to England via Paris:
At the check counter and security at Singapore, I was greeted and served in Tamil- something that's not even extended in Chennai where staff stick to English even if they know Tamil. At Paris security , a White French officer after looking at my passport asked "Ramachandran.... Mmmm.. Are you a Tamil? Where are you from? Sri Lanka or Singapore? I can speak little Tamil though! I was surprised because , 90% of the time in Paris I was served in Tamil. The point to be noted is in abroad being Tamil means you are either a Sri Lankan or a Singaporean. If that's the image we have, we might as well be one and be loyal!
