Is obama on right track on syria?
After Paris terrorist killings, it is expected that Obama will provide leadership to lead the rest of the world to fight and defeat ISIS.
His statements: "No US boots on ground in syria".
Another statement: "If tomorrow there is another terrorist attack from yemen, are we going to send troops to yemen?"
Both statements were quite unnecessary from Obama and both are combative.
Obama missed a chance early in Syrian people's movement against Bashar. When millions were on streets, US could have finished the job by giving a little nudge. A stitch in time saves nine. Now we know what it means.
Current situation is another time the world is looking for US leadership. Obama, instead of building and leading a coalition against ISIS, remains elusive and disinterested.
A mistake.

>>>Whatever his motivation, no boots on the ground is the correct approach, as that is full-on war while we are confronted with is a guerilla war with a nimble enemy. In other words, this is not Hitler's germany in a uniform isolated to a particular geography. Besides that would involve a lot of money and many lives. It is likely that some game plan is already in the works. In fact, it would be downright foolish if there are no talks behind the scenes, yes even with Russia. It is going to involve intel, lots of covert action and leveraging of internal conflicts among the terrorist networks. Obama must also insist on the rich gulf nations ponying up not just money but intel as well and no playing both sides against the middle. This may not be that difficult to do considering they are also worried about ISIS etc. for their own reasons.truthbetold wrote:After Paris terrorist killings, it is expected that Obama will provide leadership to lead the rest of the world to fight and defeat ISIS.

i don't support any move to put boots on the ground in syria. we've been burnt horribly in iraq. why should the US always lead the charge? there is no profit in this whatsoever. i don't think there is an energy crisis any longer. it's time to build on the economic successes of the last couple of years and focus on domestic issues. let others do some work for a change. and let me repeat my question from a couple of days ago -- what exactly are the arab countries, syria's neighbors doing?

Nothing. Arab govt will do nothing without us leading charge. In fact no one else much else either. Bombing has only limited impact. Time for action on the ground.

It is high-time that proponents of boots on the ground enlisted themselves and their kids rather than asking for the blood of others.truthbetold wrote:MaxEntropy_Man wrote:i don't support any move to put boots on the ground in syria. we've been burnt horribly in iraq. why should the US always lead the charge? there is no profit in this whatsoever. i don't think there is an energy crisis any longer. it's time to build on the economic successes of the last couple of years and focus on domestic issues. let others do some work for a change. and let me repeat my question from a couple of days ago -- what exactly are the arab countries, syria's neighbors doing?

Did they do anything for the refugees ? Why aren't the refugees fleeing to Saudi, Kuwait and UAE ? That is why....Even the refugees know the true nature of the rich ummah.
Saudi wants Assad out - bcz Assad is a Shiite who is ruling the majority sunni in Syria. Wants ISIS to remove Assad but they are also hitting Saudi and its friends. Saudi wants ISIS but not their agenda. Saudi wants Assad gone so Iran will not be a threat... Saudis want Iraq to lose and put a Sunni in charge instead of the Shite.
You see why I believe the Middle east and the muslim countries will never change as long as the KORAN is their supreme constitution.
