Won't happen until Pappu stops claiming that he is a Brahmin!!! His claim is based on his birth to a father whose mother was born into a Brahmin family. This is a Sikular claim since, based on his birth, he can also call himself an Italian, a Parsi or a half Italian-1/4th Parsi - 1/4th Brahmin....

If caste is another form of jati, it is similar to tribal affiliation. It is found in all cultures including western cultures. Identifying with ones past is natural to all cultures and living beings.

However caste system in India is a device to descriminate. Economic, and cultural
Deprivation over thousands of years created deep scars and huge divide among population.

Mere dropping of caste names or upper caste not filling caste column are not actions of any significance. Till India can come up with a better system, reservation is the best answer among many bad answers.
