Kattakada: Surya, a love jihad victim, who married the jihadi romeo who ensnared her, has committed suicide by consuming acid. Relatives have alleged that the drastic step was taken owing to never ending torture meted out by her jihadi husband. Sources indicate that 23 year old Surya alias Malu, a native of Paruthippalli, was subject to brutalities by Arshad and his relatives, to convert her to Islam.



According to relatives, Arshad was an auto driver who ensnared her by wooing her five years ago, when the victim was doing her final year graduation. “She however realized that his display of affections was sheer hoax soon after marriage. Soon after marriage she was constantly subject to extreme pressures from Arshad and his relatives, to get her converted to Islam. She refused following which Arshad, along with his parents, brother and sister in law began torturing her physically,” said relatives making it clear that Surya, unable to withstand the Jihadi’s tortures, had made many previous suicide attempts.
