KANNUR: A BJP worker was killed in a bomb explosion, apparently while making bombs in his house in Kottayampoyil near Koothuparamba in the district on Saturday evening.

According to police, the youth has been identified as Deeshith (23), son of local BJP leader Ponnambet Pradeepan.
The incident occurred around 7.30 pm. It is suspected that the bomb went off while making it in his house, though it has not been confirmed, said police. However, hospital sources said the palm of Deeshith had scattered in the explosion and also a few others were injured too.

Though the youth was immediately rushed to Indira Gandhi Cooperative Hospital in Thalassery, doctors declared him brought dead. Police have registered a case and investigation is on.

The CPM alleged that this mishap is the proof that the BJP was making bombs with the intention of unleashing violence in the district.
