my public library has holdings of more than 600,000 items. a member can borrow upto 50 items at a time. it's the rare public library in texas or the u.s. that has fewer than one book per resident. 

a book is enormously more useful to a child than a thousand gallons of junnu forced down her throat. if one ignores one's public library, one is doing so at peril to one's child's development.
