IPKF - Innocent People Killing Force (of India)
Unable to kill Tamil Commander Prabakaran, Indian army surrounded his birth place, lined up everyone they could find there and shot and killed them all including women and children.
Even Nazis did not do that.

Yeah, sorry. Rajaraja. He was advised by his guru to pay penance so that he won't be reborn as a bug or something.....MaxEntropy_Man wrote:Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:Hey Kayar,Kayalvizhi wrote:IPKF - Innocent People Killing Force (of India)

That's a good article. Also worth pointing out that the Bengal province at the time included much of today's Bihar and Jharkhand, as well as Odisha and Bangladesh. The Marathas had lots of Muslims fighting for them, and the Bengal nawab's army has lots of Hindus in its ranks.Hellsangel wrote:http://scroll.in/article/776978/forgotten-indian-history-the-brutal-maratha-invasions-of-bengal

It is kind of blanket statement. It is like saying all Americans are like Trump or Hillary? There is definitely a difference in each individual countries esp their culture, good /bad history and the way the people lived or followed a code of conduct. You cannot simply say all the countries were bad or oppressed. It is like saying all the Such(this forum) members are good or bad.Idéfix wrote:E dESa charitra chUsinA Emunnadi garva kAraNam

పరశురాముడు ఇలాగే ఆలోచించి, క్షత్రియుల మీద పడ్డాడు. అతగాడిని చివరకి హిమాలయాలకి పంపారు (ప్రజలతొ సంబంధం లేకుండా).Idéfix wrote:E dESa charitra chUsinA Emunnadi garva kAraNam

Re: What were the most brutal armies or invaders in history?
That was a communist I was quoting. From that perspective, even those societies that had relatively decent codes of war were oppressing people within their own societies.
But talking strictly about invading armies, the most brutal were those who eliminated or enslaved entire populations. Most wars of the very distant past were like that. But in historical times, the biggest examples that come to my mind are Assyrians, Romans, Mongols, Turks, conquistadores, Americans, Nazis and Japanese.

True. However, conflicts are natural extensions of behaviour. How they get expressed can vary depending on circumstances, cultural values, etc.Idéfix wrote:That was a communist I was quoting. I spent some time reading on Japanese culture. The Western interpretations of Japanese behaviour is tinted. One can argue that Japanese are the best examples of those who follow "dharma". There are some wonderful movies depicting this.

Re: What were the most brutal armies or invaders in history?
the maratha invasion prevented islamisation in the areas they penetrated by loosening the bonds of islamic rule there . only the area that was penetrated by marathas remains with india today while the rest is bangladesh .Hellsangel wrote:http://scroll.in/article/776978/forgotten-indian-history-the-brutal-maratha-invasions-of-bengal
the article is written by shoaib daniyal , a muslim who probably wants to divert attention from the ongoing islamisation of west bengal due to bangladeshi immigration by making hindus fight among themselves .

Re: What were the most brutal armies or invaders in history?
The Japanese had strict codes of behavior when dealing with fellow Japanese people. Once they decided to compete with the West, they quickly adopted European imperialist ways, starting with Korea. Their armies showed little regard for the lives of civilians in China and elsewhere.Vakavaka Pakapaka wrote:True. However, conflicts are natural extensions of behaviour. Yes, Japanese were brutal towards Chinese, Koreans, etc. In fact, they were brutal towards anyone who showed their backs in the battle field (or were captured) and looked morally/ethically inferior to them. I am not supporting them on this but this behaviour was an extension of their core personality. Taking their own lives when they behaved the "wrong" way, also can look strange to outsiders (the seven Ronins, for example).......
