Yes, he is a patriotic person whom his opponents can respect. The biggest blot on his record will be picking Sarah Palin as his running mate, officially consummating the GOP's veneration of ignorance. It definitely helped set the stage for Trump's takeover of his party.

OTOH, Hitlary and creepy Joe made nasty racial remarks about Obummer. Picking the corrupt Hillary who couldn't even beat Obummer in the 2008 primaries spelled doom for the democratic party.

Here is a great explanation for silvermani's malaise...
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2017/07/21/why-trump-and-the-conservative-media-are-still-obsessed-with-hillary-clinton/ wrote:There is a specter haunting the United States, or at least the Republican Party and its friendly news outlets. You may think it’s just a former government official who holds no office and won’t be running for anything again, but they know the truth. America needs to get worried and, more important, angry at Hillary Clinton.
The former Democratic presidential candidate, a favorite villain of the right, has been featured prominently across Fox News’ programming this week.
Whatever Trump does or doesn’t do, he’s always willing to point out what Clinton did or didn’t do that’s worse.
In 17 of 19 of his interviews, Clinton came up, on average about 36 percent of the way in.
Without going back and checking, I’m pretty sure Obama didn’t bring up how he beat John McCain in 90 percent of the interviews he conducted during his first six months in office. I don’t recall George W. Bush talking about Al Gore at all after he became president. So what’s going on here?
For the conservative media, there’s a slightly different motivation at work... Getting people mad is much easier than persuading them to feel happy or hopeful or excited about what the administration is doing.
Trump, on the other hand, has no villain to fight. So he and his allies are left looking backward to the person who was supposed to be the villain of the moment but now is just a retiree strolling around the woods in Westchester County. No wonder they seem so dispirited.

The media tried its best to undermine President Trump before the election and is doing the same post-op casting doubts about the election from day one. Which is why he brings up the topic of Hitlary and the election again and again. Smugtards were happily drinking the koolaid peddled by the media and were blind to the anger and resentment brewing in Americans before the election. Even now they do the same.
