Parasites, Schizophrenia and Cats
One of the most well-written article that I have read. How parasites can reside in a mammal's brain and take over. Amazing Stuff.

I am familiar with this..but, am sure it is insightful to others who may not be so familiar. And it's an interesting read! Thanks DM.
You may have seen this recently in the news..am quite curious about the real etiology (there are obviously many theories..even the significant effects and association of Social media among them).

Hellsu...i used to have a cat but we gave him away after my son was born. My wife and I used to think it was T.Gondii that was making us crazy. Believe me we are still crazy after we gave the cat away. So we need to find a new excuse.
Maria...i saw the headline but didn't read the article about the twitching. We were aware of T.Gondii risk to pregnant ladies and took necessary precautions when my wife was pregnant.

DM,
All teasing aside, it's always good for pregnant women to stay away-have limited contact with pets who have a role in parasitic lifecycles, esp. cats with the Toxoplasma Gondii assn.
The case- with the girls with tics which is spreading is interesting. There could be a neurotoxin explanation. But, we know that just from the psychogenic part..people have "peer norms and group norms"..have to "mimick" group behaviors to fit in and not to be called artificial or even strange with imaginary motivations. It can be anything from words, phrases to behaviours.
In the social media era..following "group norms" (in any group, including Facebook groups) is amusing..people will almost involuntarily start mimicking others..if it's God bless, Good morning, Hello, Malai vanakkam, thank you etc and more upbeat/positive remarks..almost everyone in that environment will say that more and more...on the other extreme..if it's negative, swearing (OMG and BS, S are highly popular at the moment!), gossip and cynicism and that is considered the "norm"..everyone has to do it..even repeat "entire sentences" someone said again and again..to make them seem very intelligent and superior (sometimes I wonder if they simply store what people say in a group in a file..somewhere!) for a later time to bring it up and make it seem humorous..don't know that may be exciting to some! To me it is quite sad to see the extent people to go to just say "gotcha!" and find some pleasure in it!
Will be interesting to see if these young ladies..were under a lot of pressure to fit in with their peers!

unequally. Those that dream at night in the dusty recesses of their
minds awake the next day to find that their dreams were just vanity. But
those who dream during the day with their eyes wide open are dangerous
men; they act out their dreams to make them reality.

Need to understand something. Is Maria the saint in this story or not? Slightly confused. Or else am unable to follow the whole thread between BW, M, and HA.

why is daydreaming dangerous? I day dream all the time. 0% has come true so far. But won't be dangerous even if it does.

That's men, let them be.
We are talking about Angels here - are the day dreaming Angels dangerous too, especially for the Saints?
