Absence of Women Posters

Hardly see any women post here!

The posts and comments from women posters seem rather scarce..thought many of them from the Sulekha Forums moved here..since they stopped posting there.

Is it because of the chat...do the women posters prefer that? Do they discuss- what happens here or what kinds of topics? Are there sections there for different topics?

Just wondered what's going on.

I think admin needs to implement some affirmative action programs to encourage women...

Administration seems to have created a free new site/place..can't expect more! I appreciate the generosity.

As much as the company of gentlemen is great..women, do bring that certain special feminine aura/energy Smile

Or may be- it's not an issue for others and everyone is happy the way it is.

I don't even see you much around..you don't respond much!

I understand.

Also understand that with time people drift away and bond with others they are around, so did not really know, what to expect here.

As it is well known..I always find ways to interact with folks I want to..with the famous "Good Morning" or even the more radical "Hello, Hope you are well!"..even if I have absolutely no interest in the topic being discussed!

For some reasons, this site has not attacted sulekha trolls. I wonder why. Maybe coz admin is a known poster.

After the Exodus, don't see any trolls in the Sulekha forums. No fights, arguments, mocking others. GP and others post all kinds of links! Other than that..it's pleasant/calm with some mutual encouragement- cheering up:)

It works for me..my tolerance for toxic environments is quite low!

I certainly have more than enough excitement, and will take the serenity and peace if I can find it- anywhere.

ROFL.. Exactly what I thot. That too, I heard that the Supreme court has decided to "reopen" the affirmative action through a Texas Case. The conservative court is likely to tinker with the 30 yr practices of "considering Race and Gender" importance in everything from admission to incompetence.

Let us institute a quota system right here conforming to both Indian caste system and US system on Gender and race...

Are you sure that I can't find peace and serenity here?I certainly do find some peace and serenity here, for example: when I interact with someone like Sara. Sara may totally disagree with everything I say..find many flaws in the construction of everything I said..but, I have no doubt that..there will be peace and serenity after our interaction.

I assume you agree that in every interaction we have with anyone..there is always giving and taking (what we give and take is something we determine for ourselves).

Ultimately, isn't that what matters? Being Ash Wed- and all that comes with it, to me it is.

And having seen all that I have seen in life..it's really about the few moments of some happiness, peace of mind and serenity, and it will all be over! I would not be wasting my time here/anywhere..if I had no hope of finding those rare moments! You'll know when I am no longer around.

Nice to cross paths after a long time:) Hope you are doing well.

To each her/his own.

*I am very much interested in issues related to: Politics, History esp. US and Indian, Religion, Race relations, Tamil Culture, Philosophy, American Sports, Music and Movies in any genre (with a few exceptions). While I may not change anyone's mind- think my perspective (because of some life experiences) in sites-where there are not too many Marias, think can add to the discussions, and from all the feedback over the years, know at least a few people look for that. *I also keep an open mind and like reading perspectives from people who are from a very different world/backgrounds from mine, if it's interesting to read their views.. that helps me to look at issues from a different angle.

*Of course, like some limited banter- simple interactions, if I feel comfortable. But frankly, am not curious, have any interest about personal lives of people who post anywhere..if they want to share, will acknowledge it, if someone comes across as feeling down, may offer some encouragement.

That's pretty much it!

Thank you, but I could not watch for more than a few mins! Not a fan of the Lady Gaga or Lady Beyonce (think both are quite average with too much hype!) I am not sure what it is..to me lady Gaga does not seem to have any genuine value in her "shock value" appearances..unlike Elton, Madonna, and Bjork and so many other artists who are very flamboyant in their appearances, but real about their extreme showing off..she seems like doing it for only hollow sensationalism.

Not sure..if you are implying some female-prison like aura here with bullying! I can't stand or stay in trapped environments for more than a few mins..what can I say!

I likelady gaga in general. and beyonce too. but didn't like that song above when i watched it last. More coz i didn't like beyonce in that kinda setup.

I komboletely agree. Beyonce might get a C- bit Gaga is an F+.

in either case, they are no matcch forthe woman who askedd me if I would take her out on a date if she quit smoking.

The only issue was she was 6 ft tall and 420# (I told her she should contact Bittu, who may be interested inher)
