Soudh Indians learn Inglees in School, and this article proves why Soudhies are (much) smarter than the Naarthies - especially those coming from Bihar and UP.

any language offered is a delight to learn .Hindi is just such a language and useful to bind north and south Indians together

its called nation building kris

put aside personal interest and benefit and see what u can do to improve communication between different states in India

Im sure china and Japan have different dialects throught out their country but they functiun as one nation and speak enough to be understood by others

they have no personal agenda

In India Hindi should be accepted nay asked to be shoved what disastrous consequences can there be ?

One more beautiful language to be learnt

Its we who have told ourselves that .It's our loss

If each special interest group refuses to cooperate in a venture that affects us all

then that as sure as hell will spell disaster a good reson why India will never be at the top

>>> China's "monolingualism" and "one culture" came at a price. Don't know if you want this. If India is going at the top, it is not because of hindi-ization. If anything, english would have taken a back seat if the hindi chauvinists had prevailed in the sixties. I am not saying that the anti-hindi agitants had this in mind when they protested, but think where india would be now, were it not for english. It would be great if everyone got together and did the kumbaya routine, but social engineering is not the way to go. I have no personal issue with people wanting to learn whatever they want to learn, but top-down social engineering is a very odious model. Remember the 'one people, one leader, one country' crowd .. India is a diverse country, it has resourceful people- they will figure out a way to make it work.

forget the sixties etc

what should happen now is the question

the educated of course know English study at their country's expense and move out to embrace another

but what of those who are left behind

the low income class and the poor..

wouldn't knowing a language that could get them to travel across states help them communicate and do better business with one another ?

why should learning a language be considered odious ?its a mind set that the South need to get away from .

It's not the adults that will be put through this "ordeal".It's the children at KG level and upwards

Indeed India is diverse but we would help her get better if we co operated .We need a common language other than English to establish who we are

and lets face it... it can't very well be Tamil or Kannada

Indeed India is diverse but we would help her get better if we co operated .

>>> has India borken apart in the past 65 years?

We need a common language other than English to establish who we are

>>>Indians know who they are. They may yet develop a common lingua franca, but this needs to be from the grassroots. My mother learned hindi when she went to live in jabalpur after her marriage, because that's where my father was posted. Strangely, my dad did not, since the common language fro him was english at work. Its all about need or interest. When people feel they are being forced to do something, it backfires

and lets face it... it can't very well be Tamil or Kannada

we have to look at it that way

and not who is making the concessions and who is getting the advantage

thats what is happening

perhaps not in ur family's case

as it is India is getting Anglicized the few rich that is .

Hindi is the cement that will bind us together

let it go at that

thanks
