Interesting.. I remember in college (years before Madonna made yoga cool) a Catholic friend of mine was concerned about going to a yoga class. I just looked at him, "what are you talking about?" He didn't know and just shrugged his shoulders and looked nervous. I don't know if he thought there was voodoo going on or what.

After the yoga session, he came back all happy and went back again.. later he became more Catholic.. (and now less Catholic, but that has nothing to do with yoga.. or maybe it does?)

OTOH, I have seen Hindus denounce the stripping of Hinduism from yoga saying it was birthed together.

I've heard yoga instructors say focus on the spiritual center you wish to focus on.
