"Sozhi" is sometimes used in games like pallAnkuzhi. "Sea Shells" is so unsatisfactory and neither is "conch-lettes". Any other suggestions?

I think you are talking about 'gavvalu' in telugu. Can't think of another word other than sea shells. Maybe charu/pp or others can throw in some word.

oh so cowrie shells they are! i was a proud owner of a few of them when li'l. used to use them as dice while playing games like 'barakatta'. Have fond memories of playing that game during summer vacations.
