It is precisely to address the issue of coal scarcity that the GoI alloted captive coal blocks to investors launching new large powerplants. But in the screwed up environment we have created in this country, any jobless self-appointed moralizer can question any deal, call corruption and effectively stall the project. Which is what has happened now. After seeing its cockeyed 1.76lac-crore estimate turn into prime-time stuff, the CAG has leaked yet another report screaming about all thousands of crores of national wealth going into the pockets of those crony capitalists because those coal blocks were alloted and not auctioned.
