On another note, anyone concerned about privacy issues with respect to chatting on the chaikaapi site (because the chat transcripts can be easily accessed by Charvaka) now has the option of chatting using the forumotion chat on this site:
http://sulekha.forumotion.com
Hope to see some of you there in the near future.

Actually i can't see any poster's IP address--unless i am logged in as Admin and the user is online simultaneously. Charvaka must have gone out of his way to detect IP addresses of posters. Charvaka himself had stated when this site was first created that a forumotion Admin is unable to see the IP address of anyone. It was only later after some posters accused him of lying that he changed his tune and posted this:
https://such.forumotion.com/t674-admin-can-see-your-ip-address
At any rate Charvaka is least concerned about anyone's privacy. Which is why he shifted chat on this forum to his own chaikaapi site (under the excuse that the chat at chaikaapi has more features). On chaikaapi not only can Charvaka keep track of IP addresses of posters he also has easy access to the entire chat transcripts including private messages of one chat user to another. Hence i am encouraging everyone to use the chat i have created on http://sulekha.forumotion.com which is the forumotion chat. It is a basic chat with minimal features but your privacy is guaranteed. Meanwhile i am exploring the option of incorporating a more sophisticated chat box on the http://sulekha.forumotion.com site.
There are posters who are uncomfortable posting on a forum where Charvaka has Admin power and these posters should know that they now have an additional alternative besides this forum and sulekha.com. That alternative is:
http://sulekha.forumotion.com
There is also no way for an Admin to keep track of IP addresses of posters who post on forumotion chat--as per what Charvaka himself had declared earlier. So the solution is this: those who are uncomfortable with revealing their IP addresses can register using a proxy server and then they can freely chat or else continue to use a proxy server for posting even on the forum. Huzefa Kapasi has earlier explained about how to hide IP address from an Admin on a forumotion site:
https://such.forumotion.com/t674-admin-can-see-your-ip-address#5683

Because chaikaapi is Charvaka's personal website (unlike forumotion). If he wants to obtain access to chat transcripts on that site it is not difficult for him to do so.

That site is setup using "icyboards" just like this site and your site uses "forumotion". I don't think there is any difference in admin powers across these two sites.
If you have some proof that on sites based on "icyboards", the admins can see chat transcript and on "forumotion", they cannot, please post it here.

What you are saying is not true. Charvaka, as per his own admission, actually pays a monthly fee so as to own the site http://chaikaapi.com
So there is a difference between a forumotion forum and the chaikaapi site.
Suppose an Admin of a forumotion forum behaves in a whimsical and arbitrary or dictatorial way towards a poster, then that poster can approach the forumotion team for redressal.
To the best of my knowledge there is no such recourse for anyone posting on the chaikaapi chat at Charvaka's website (for whose ownership Charvaka pays a monthly fee).

Re: [Vakavaka Pakapaka]
it is his "personal" website only insofar as he has paid for it (for you to recapitulate). it is an icyboards forum based on mybb platform: http://forums.icyboards.net/Rashmun wrote:Because chaikaapi is Charvaka's personal website (unlike forumotion).
it is just like "forumotion." the only difference is that your forum there need not have "icyboards" in its URL. it is governed by the policies and rules of icyboards (just like this site is by those of forumotion). the chat applet PP is using there is an icyboards add on.

icyboards says it is a free forum:

But PP has in the past claimed that he has been paying money (on a monthly basis) to maintain the chaikaapi site.

i think it is free for a trial time. after that you have to pay to continue subscription. or maybe it is free now -- wasn't then.

Re: [Vakavaka Pakapaka]
Additionally icyboards has a threaded view feature. I know this because i did some testing on that forum after PP sent me the link to that forum (back in the day when we were friends). To the best of my knowledge, chaikaapi forum did not have the threaded view feature.

Re: [Vakavaka Pakapaka]
fine. you have a point. PP probably pays for the independent hosting server of chaikaapi that is not free (now icyboards might be giving free space on their servers OTOH). that does not mean his site is not governed by the rules and policies of mybb.
