Divorce and Health Insurance?

My friend is going thru divorce and she asked me if I knew anything about HI for kids? I googled and it's confusing...thought I can post it here, I know it is going to be useless anyway.

She should/will get around 1200 per kid/mo as child support. Depending on other factors, she might get more for her own support, + house (or rent). Most states give automatic insurance to kids under 18 - if they cannot be covered under parents. In the worst case, she should be able to bill the would be ex for the premium for the kids insurance.

In short, Health Insurance should not be a problem at all.

P.S. I know you are ll talk and no action (except for one action which you never talked about).

Btw, I called her to check on her and she said that they made up and the divorce is at bay.....Sigh!

Usually it's decided that the father will cover the kids' HI. But the wife will need to take care of her own.

I am not sure what happens if her insurance is better than his, and they wanna use that... he gives a refund?

She doesn't have insurance...a temp contractor.

Not sure if he will pay for her HI too. But am sure that in this case, he will need to cover the kids' insurance.
