First phase of polling for the 50 and odd seats in Saurashtra is trouble some for BJP this time.

Whenever an alternate small party takes away votes, from BJP's votebank, the Congress gains. Congress's Votebank remains as it is.

GPP which has a not-so-secret understanding with Congress, is challenging Modi here.

Congress is expected to reap handsome gains due to this understanding where many of the erstwhile BJP voters are voting for Congress by proxy through GPP.

On top of this the massive delimitation excersize makes it a psephologist's nightmare.

On top of this a heavy turnout indicates that BJP's committed votebank could get overwhelmed by the onslaught of GPP/Congress together.

BJP needs to work double hard in the remaining phases to get to the magic figure of 92.

Congress used third party siphoning vote methodology successfully in many states including ap.

2004 - kcr's TRS
2009 - chiranjeevi's party

It is a well known technique.
