Why? Is he so special?
Mahesh Bhatt @MaheshNBhatt
Heart Broken: Just heard that Sanjay Dutt has to go to jail for 5 years. I expected mercy! Alas it did not happen.

ONLY 5 years ? for killing innocent poor people tying to get some sleep? driving his car on the pavement under influence?
How about islamic Shariat law for drinking and killing for this closet musalman? He should have been given 50 public lashes and then thrown in the slammer for 30 years.

Oh yeah...rite...
But, close enough...they are all criminals. Throw them all in jail for life.

Looks like Salman Khan was given more grief for killing deer than running his SUV over sleeping people. That is all "sthaana-balam." Illegal deer killing happened in Rajasthan whereas the car-killing happened in Bombay.

Thinking before acting is a sign of weakness. If Sanjay Dutt had thought through what he was doing, he might not have ended up in jail. If Uppiliji thinks through everything before he says it, we might not have any of his posts about anything related to Islam, its adherents, or their descendants.doofus_maximus wrote:Uppili wrote:Rishi wrote:Mahesh Bhatt @MaheshNBhatt

Re: Why? Is he so special?
Anybody remember the specifics of Yakub Memon's case? Allegedly his brother Tiger was the mastermind. Yakub was on the lam for a few years and came back to India seemingly on his own accord, perhaps induced by promises that he would be treated leniently.
But now he has been given the death sentence because apparently he was one of the ‘driving spirit’ behind the plan. Is he really guilty or just conveniently turned into chief villain since the real chief villains are out of reach and untouchable?

Unkil, before you go shooting your ignorant mouth off, why don't you first read up on what Sunjay Dutt was convicted of??
Hint: The fellow who drove his car on the pavement was Salman Khan.

Exactly. It's a national shame that after all these years, India has not been able to lay a finger on the real masterminds.
And all this ruckus over Sunjay Dutt - for shame, that's a minor side-show being given so much importance by the state prosecutors just to distract attention from the government's failings. What is Dutt's crime? That moron went and procured an AK56 like many other morons in the film industry did at the time. And he spent time in prison for that crime. It had nothing to do with the '93 blasts. So what sense did it make to lump his case with the '93 accused, other than to distract and dissemble??

i once wrote to (late) varsha bhosle and asked her about her anger for sanjay dutt (she had written a piece on him on rediff). her response was - although sanjay dutt had no active role to play in the serial blasts, he knew something was afoot and didn't alert the authorities.

Friends don't snitch on friends, right? Considering that he is not a bright light, how the heck would he have known the magnitude of that "something"? He is a fool and has been used - then and now.

250 crores and more is riding on Sanjay Dutt remaining free, which makes Sanjay Dutt very very important.

the point is uniformity of law. if everyone in desh suffers from the same shoddy investigation tactics, both rich and poor then there's a chance of things improving somewhat. why let this fat douche be exempt just coz he's bollywoodian?

For starters, he knew, joked and befriended terrorists and plotters who killed hundreds in '93. Maybe you and I don't know such people, but don't they say something about the company you keep. Sanjay Dutt knew AK-56s are not sold in toy stores and knew who carries/gets them.
Sanjay Dutt does not have remorse and even spoke to the team after they fled India.
In USA he would be put behind bars for life. In India he will get a decorated Governor pardon because 250 crore rupees are at stake.

Isn't Priya Dutt an MP ?
accomplices are as guilty as the doers.

Re: Why? Is he so special?
Keeping the wrong company is not a crime. It is irrelevant, because the prosecution was unable to prove any charges related to aiding or abetting terrorists.
He was convicted of violating Indian gun laws, and his sentence of five years is the minimum sentence the law prescribes for the crime that he did commit. I see no reason for the governor to pardon him. He committed the crime, and he needs to serve the time.
