I always operated under the fear "if my relatives find out, what will they think of me?"

I think it is good most of the times.

"who cares what others think?" does not work in all the situations. Many times it can lead to you to destruction.

A few years ago, a Pakistani Punjabi who owned a Pizzza shop in Washington DC was murdered by a black woman whom he had bribed to marry his brother. He wanted to game the system so his brother would get a green card. He was paying her $600 per month till the "brother" got his permanent green card.

The woman meanwhile was seeing other men even though she was married to the pakistani's brother. The Pakistani's were upset. The Pizza fellow threatened to cut of the monthly stipend.

One day she came into the Pizza shop with her male friends, killed the elder brother and took all the money from the cash register.
