Kannada fanatics up against actress Ramya


The damage wasn't much when the actress address a press met at The Press Club in English with a few words of Kannada thrown in. But people didn't mind that much as the actress seemed to be comfortable in English, what however, fired the fuel was the fact when Ramya spoke in Tamil at an election road show for a Congress candidate.

When actors from other states come here and campaign, and speak in their native language, it is acceptable. For example, when Venkatesh came to campaign for Congress and spoke in Telugu there was no problem. But Ramya is a well known Kannada actress who though acted in a few Tamil films is an established name here. With language being a sensitive subject in Bangalore, even AIDMK candidates prefer to speak in Kannada.

Kannada Abhivrudhikara Chairperson Mukyamantri Chandru, who is an actor himself, threatened to ban her films if she didn't mend her ways. Karnataka Rakshana Vedike chief, Narayana Gowda went a step further and said unless she apologizes; screening of her films will be stopped.

Who is a Tamil Fanatic ? How do you define ?

Yep. In Karnataka Tamil speaking is looked down (Kaveri water...do you know that Thala Kaveri is in Karnataka Razz) .I am giving you a life saving tip if at all you were to stuck up in a Kannada riots - If you know only Tamil and you are surrounded by kannada goodas....pliss not to utter any tamil words...pretend to be mute. You are welcome.
In fact many in Karnataka know Tamil but they pretend they know nothing.
Besides...I've learned that Tamil Speaking in public is looked down...not good for status Razz Tamil discriminative world we live in....face it K. Learn Hindi...
