I have no idea what I'm doing in a place where the average per capita income is $18,000 per person and the wealthiest residents in this town are welfare moms who make $45,000 a year.

Okay, the business owners and a few professionals make more than the welfare moms, but they earn it instead of doing nothing all day.

I keep telling DH that the overachievers with ambition in small towns leave for big cities as soon as they can get out of this hell, and we are doing the exact opposite to make more money :-( If we end up having kids, I cringe to think of what their life will be growing up over here.

I. HATE. SMALL. TOWNS. Period.
