Former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal has termed as "false" the allegations of sexual assault against him, claiming the entire episode is a BJP conspiracy....

Managing Editor of Tehelka Shoma Chaudhury told a TV reporter late on Monday that the victim is 'a liar' and called the charge of intimidation & character assassination a complete lie. Commenting on the resignation letter, Chaudhury said she will write a detailed reply. "How can you cover up giving an unconditional apology for what pretty much makes Tejpal a selfconfessed rapist?" she asked.

Tehelka managing editor Shoma Chaudhury has accused a “lawyer friend” of “backstabbing” her by first advising her to get an unconditional apology from the magazine’s founder editor Tarun Tejpal, accused of sexually assaulting a junior colleague, and then switching sides.

Tejpal’s apology — where he confessed to his misconduct — is a crucial part of the evidence being collected by the Goa police to build their case against him.

Looks like tejpal found the escape hatch "bjp ". now congress and secular bandwagon will gleefully find conspiracy and save their dear investigative journalist.

Regardless of Tejpal's commentary, you have to admit that there has been an unseemly and most unusual proactiveness in how the Goa CM set the cops on the job based just on press reports, even though the woman herself never approached them.

If only they had shown the same energy levels they showed in this harassment case in investigating a more serious case ie of murder just a few weeks back, they wouldn't have had to suffer that humiliating thrashing at the hands of those Nigerian rioters.

"Suo motu cognizance" of a woman's harassment by the BJP government in Goa is certainly very noble of them. But if you are going to apply it to the harasser of the Tehelka reporter, how come the same yardstick is not being applied by the BJP government in Gujarat to the harasser of Mansi Soni??

Avivek, do you always have to make a fool of yourself? I suppose you can't help it. So let me slowly explain to you what I wrote. See, I'm most delighted to see the Goa government finally get proactive with some lawbreaker. I only wish their most unusual proactiveness would extend beyond just enemies-of-BJP-who-break-the-law, to, say, the rapist-murderers of Scarlett Keeling who died 5 years ago. Or for that matter, all those illegal miners, the illegal immigrants and the drugs mafia in Goa.

Likewise, I wish the Goa CM's proactiveness would be emulated by other BJP CMs. Women should feel safe and secure not just in Goa but in Gujarat too.
