thanks! so the key points are violence and infectious disease (among others) that led to the demise. it is uncertain if infectious diseases precipitated violence or that violence was totally (or partly) unrelated to the pandemic.

good research for a region that suffers from a paucity of funds for more research.

Nothing special about these "new" findings about the demise of Indus civilization. Most of the ancient civilizations / societies everywhere came to the same type of end and for similar causes,
"The data suggest instead that some communities at Harappa faced more significant impacts than others from climate and socio-economic strains, particularly the socially disadvantaged or marginalized communities who are most vulnerable to violence and disease. This pattern is expected in strongly socially differentiated, hierarchical but weakly controlled societies facing resource stress."

Incidentally, the same thing is happening even now in societies mired in strife and civil wars, i.e. the weak, poor and downtrodden are paying more price and suffer more than the rich and powerful; and the same thing will happen in future.
