He wants to go back to India
A few months ago, the Malayalee fellow who is my team member came to my cubicle. He was perturbed. “I don't want to live in this country anymore. I will leave after a couple of years." He was mad at the way Devayani Khobragade was treated by Preet Bharara.
Yesterday, I saw him talking him to Bob,a white guy who is also in the same team. Both Bob and the Nair man work for the same body shop. “I am leaving early, he told Bob. I have to go to the head quarters in Virgnia. I have to meet Jackie, he said. “Is it regarding your immigration thing?” Bob asked. “Yeah. I would have gotten my green card in 2008 itself. My lawyer messed it up. Otherwise, I would be citizen now.”, the Nair man lamented.

Re: He wants to go back to India
here's a story for you, rishi.
someone i know was all set to surrender his indian passport and citizenship. most of the paperwork was done. he visited india in january, watched the republic day parade on TV, felt very moved and had a sudden change of mind. he called his wife and said he cannot do it and decided to remain an indian citizen(for now).
other relevant details - he is a tambram from a fairly affluent family in india, married to a tambram woman. he didn't want to be a wussy iyer boy and started his own business in a rather risky sector. he did pretty well.

Which is truly patriotic ?
1. To keep ones passport but work in US for decades with a GC
2. To get a US citizenship but moves to India and works there with an OCI
3. Be an Indian, who never went outside the country, but work in a corrupt manner.

no idea - i guess surrendering the passport is an emotional thing, for many.
