those are mostly the rich and politically well-connected delhite punju brahmins, and a small fraction (hopefully).

the simplest explanation is that they are a lot more in number. For instance, in Uttar Pradesh the total population is over 210 million of which 9 percent are brahmins. In contrast, Tamil Nadu has a population of less than 75 million of which 3 percent are brahmins.

In Telugu, there is a saying in Brahmin families - Brahmanyam (brahmin culture) disappears from a family that ignores satvikam (satvik personality).

Ravana is worshipped or respected in various parts of India. Ravana's father was a South Indian brahmin and his mother was a rakshasi.

You made a mistake by asking this question, but let me answer.

Obviously Tambrams are much smarter than the Sharmas and Chaturvedis. The latter needed sardaarjees to protect them from monomaniac menace while the former tried every trick in the book to complicate the life of Arcot monomaniac.

Read about Pulatsya and Pulahu. Vishrava (Ravan's father) was Pulatsya's son.
