indians torturing an elephant
http://news.yahoo.com/elephant-thought-rescued-by-sir-paul-mccartney-found-beaten-in-chicken-shack-150905876.html
"On a trip to India in 2012, former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney was moved enough by the sight of a 14-year-old elephant named Sunder, abused by its handlers at Jyotiba Temple south of Mumbai, to engineer a campaign for the animal's release.
McCartney made agreements with Maharashtra State's forest department... to move Sunder to a sanctuary. But an investigation... found Sunder had simply been stuck in a chicken shack, shackled in chains heavy enough to prevent him from lying down to sleep.
Even worse, the investigation by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals captured video footage of the animal looking malnourished and being beaten by its handler.
Sunder has also been seen 'writhing in pain and struggling to stand as the mahout (handler) strikes him repeatedly. Sunder visibly recoils in fear from the weapon-wielding mahout, who continues to threaten him with violence after he has stood.'"

I bet those assholes who torture the elephant do Ganesha Puja every month.
India is the place where both humans and animals are abused.

Re: indians torturing an elephant
the scenes depicted in the video you posted were unimaginably cruel. i had not known that any human could be so cruel to living creatures. i could not watch after the 39th second when a man was shown castrating a little piglet by making an incision and pulling off its testicles with his hand, while the piglet was fully conscious. and this to lower the cost of meat production and make the business more profitable!Kinnera wrote:michelle2 wrote:humane treatment of formerly captive elephants:

A piglet, is it? Then the man has to be a kishtianboy. Followers of Yeshua inflicting such cruelty on another of God's creations?? Very disappointing, Michelle.

not a great deal. you make a poor assumption. why do you ask? what does the "then" in your question mean?Rishi wrote:michelle2 wrote:the scenes depicted in the video you posted were unimaginably cruel. i had not known that any human could be so cruel to living creatures. i could not watch after the 39th second when a man was shown castrating a little piglet by making an incision and pulling off its testicles with his hand, while the piglet was fully conscious. and this to lower the cost of meat production and make the business more profitable!Kinnera wrote:michelle2 wrote:humane treatment of formerly captive elephants:

>>>A lot of people are revolted by the cruelty involved in meat production. You seem to be one of them. A lot of people who were revolted have given up eating meat. That is why I asked.

Re: indians torturing an elephant
i ate meat three times:
once at a children's party in mcdonald's. I didn't even know what it was but it was a chicken nugget. my mom made me stop.
then once in air france: they did not have a vegetarian meal and I was so not going to skip a meal, duck was on the menu, and I was thrilled and curious and ate it and found it to be light and satisfying.
there was one time i was on a flight and i really felt like trying meat and the stewardess said, "no, looks like your mom and dad ordered veg meals for you, talk to them" when my sis and i tried to act like the airline had made a mistake in our meal options. south indian woman: either tamil or malayali
almost 10 yrs ago i tried salmon cuz i thought i should eat it given the health benefits but i didn't make it past the first forkful.
now I'm veg cuz yes i do truly feel bad for the fishies and duckies and i think it is nothing less than murder but also when i tell myself i gotta eat fish for the omegas I'm just gripped by a fear that i will die of anaphylactic shock if i eat any sea creatures.

Re: indians torturing an elephant
you're probably a m.d. intern, but you often sound like an indian m.b.b.s. intern. the latter are far less mature than m.d. interns in the u.s., constantly draping their steths over their necks and swinging them dangerously, and using the arcane, technical language of medicine needlessly. i suspect that, in the u.s., only the nurses do that. if you are indeed an m.d., when might you outgrow this habit?pravalika nanda wrote:I'm just gripped by a fear that i will die of anaphylactic shock if i eat any sea creatures.

Re: indians torturing an elephant
i have not watched any of the videos or clicked on any of the links because i am sure it will upset me terribly. however, this brings me to an opinion i have held for a while -- i thinks zoos and places like sea world should be closed. animals are not put on this planet for our entertainment. the wild ones deserve to be wild and the domesticated ones like dogs deserve our love and companionship for what they give us in return.
