In terms of overall population, Delhi has the highest projected growth of 102 per cent during 2001-2026. The population of Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh is projected to increase by 40-50 per cent during 2001-2026, above the national average of 36%; while Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka will see their population swell between 20 and 30%. "
