Hey...nothing like aged and seasoned objects....Indians dont like new and untried....when Rafale was offered in joint production more than a decade agoo.

India does not have the technical capacity to jointly manufacture a high tech aircraft like the rafale . even licence manufacturing scorpene submarines ( which are less high tech than rafale ) has proved difficult for us and the production of these french submarines in india has been considerably delayed . 

even now the contract is to buy the 36 jets from france directly . the contract to licence manufacture a further 108 rafales in india is yet to be signed because the french are not willing to take responsibility for the quality of India manufatured rafales , given india's lack of technical expertise to manufacture such a advanced aircraft even though all the technology will be provided by france !!
