Cooking with my 10 yr old son! :-)
My son declared - daddy, I like those Indian spicy cashews.
Hmm.
What did he mean, he remembered that I had desi-fried the cashews I got from Costco when he was 4?
I let him be the Chef in the kitchen tonight.
Take out the pan. Put it on medium. Put the olive oil. Stir to touch each piece. Put this spice to another.
I let him do everything, till I asked him to taste. Umm. Maybe we can add a little more chilli powder.
He did it all.
Then came the biggest lesson of them all, as his mom looked proudly:
Dude, we clean up the kitchen, after we are done. Put this pan in the sink. Put these spices back.
Ha, what fun cooking a simple thing with your son! :-)
Invaluable experience,
TS.

Re: Cooking with my 10 yr old son! :-)
I cooked paalak muttar tonight.
Not crazy about cleaning though. No matter how careful I am...I still spend more time cleaning than cooking.
I think kids are fun they grow up a little. Like 10 is perfect I think. What plans for the summer?

Hi seven - At 10 they still listen to you, but have just started to assert their personality - strong - in my home! :-)
Strangely, my son made one pillow - yeah, got them the poly-fill, and bunch of fabric. While son got into our heads to teach him how to use the needle (I can hardly put the thread in the needle now), dotter preferred to just use the hot-glue. Now, I have over 7 ulte-seedhe pillows lying in the family room. But heck - I told them - learn to do everything, follow what you like.
Summer has been really hot this year! Uff. No plans as such. Just hiking, picnic, camping, take kids for swimming. They are signed up for a few classes, as they are the restless ones! :-)
How about U? Do u have kids yet?
Best wishes,
TS.
