Surprised that no modern/allopathic medicine for this killer disease yet. Is it because it affects liver first then other organs deteriorate further?

Jaundice is not a disease. It's a symptom of a variety of liver conditions that could bring it on.

some of the film songs he wrote, i like - mix of traditional and contemporary stuff. curiously he had striking resemblance in his appearance to nana patekar.

probably alcohol abuse which kills the liver
