Another outspoken person passes away: CHO Srinivasa Iyer Ramaswamy passes away, aged 82

Srinivasa Iyer Ramaswamy passes away, aged 82
Veteran thespian, comedian, writer, political analyst Srinivasa Iyer Ramaswamy, popularly known as Cho Ramaswamy, passed away early on Wednesday morning due to respiratory problem. He was 82. Cho Ramaswamy’s personal physician Dr Vijayabhaskar confirmed that he passed away at around 3.58 am at Apollo hospital. A former BJP Rajya Sabha MP, Cho was the first person who mooted the idea that Narendra Modi should be the prime ministerial candidate. He had founded a news magazine, Thuglak, that he edited as well. A fearless critic of government and an honest political commentator, he was also sought after by chief minister J Jayalalithaa, who passed away on Monday night. He had a personal rapport with all the top politicians of the country, cutting across the political spectrum, including former prime minister Indira Gandhi, BJP veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee, LK Advani, M Karunanidhi among others. Prime Minister Modi, late Jayalalithaa had also called on him at the hospital after he became seriously ill earlier this year.

Didn't always agree with his politics but an important journalistic voice and a genuine funny guy. Will be missed.
