===> Why is that among the third generation desis in North America, we hardly hear of any 'high achievers'?

May be the number of third generation desi youth is small. But still do you think down the road they will be as successful as Jews?

by the time of Aurangzeb mughals had become so unused to hardships and struggle, and so accustomed to luxury and luxurious items, that on one occasion the puritan Aurangzeb once reprimanded one of his daughters for wearing a dress that seemed to be transparent. He was only slightly mollified when his daughter clarified that the dress she was wearing had seven layers of clothing within it. (These layers were so fine that the dress despite the multiple layers seemed to be transparent.)

Another feature of the ease of life of the later mughals:
babur and akbar drank alcohol in moderation, but two of akbar's sons died of alcholism and the third (jahangir) was also an alcholic who only started restricting his regular alchohol consumption (of twenty cups of double distilled spirits per day) after the doctors told him that he would die within six months at this rate.

The relevance of mughals in this context is that what was a feature of the mughals is a fairly common feature to be seen in most immigrant populations. the first (and perhaps second) generation is willing to struggle a lot more fiercely than the later generations.

Corrected.. A noble committee needs the heading more complicated saamiyar... Note also that if you say "Indian origin" it is an automatic disqualification for noble. Pliss to use some discretion (aka common sense)

As they say...wealth lasts 3 generations....

Culture also lasts 3 generations

Now back to your analysis, the second gen gets its motivation and push from the first gen that wants to fulfill their accomplishments through their first gen kids. But, the first gen kids firmly come to believe that one choosed their own career and destiny. Naturally, they dont pass down the indoctrination techniques to the 3rd gen, and take it as it is. Hence, you may not see many super stars in the 3rd gen. You might start seeing some indians in construction and other such jobs.

I have a distant cousin as a cop in Orlando. But then, his mom is a Whitie. So you see...it is a difficult job to ensure continued success in wealth, educational accomplishments or cultural and societal greatness.

They are already white and don't have to ape the whites.

Only we dark apes have to imitate the whites and willing to sacrifice some of our imported traits inexchange.
