They cannot see themselves happy and supporting a government that works for them.

Petrol price in 1963 --- 74 paise (Congress govt)
Petrol price in 2014 -- Rs 79 (Congress govt) Oil debt 46000 crore
Petrol price in 2018 -- Rs 74 (BJP govt) No oil debt

Indians still cannot be happy. Smile

Amazing that the gas prices are so high in India even after a glut of production and OPEC not reducing  their output. 

For reference in 2014 in the US the gas prices were about a dollar higher per gallon than today.

Gasoline in the US is heavily subsidized by the government.

They do, but the price movement under a heavily government subsidized scenario is not as sharp as when it is not subsidized when market pressures change.

The point is the movement of gas prices in India. Maybe a better graph would be crude barrel prices.

Does "No oil debt" mean no new debt has been incurred or that the existing 46000 crore debt been paid off?
