Really sad! She was a great actress with a huge loyal fan base and still relatively young (54 only) to pass away. May she RIP!

Can't believe it. I had to reread the headline a few time for this to sink in. Excellent actress, a natural and dominated the screen in a way very few could.

Re: Bollywood actor Sridevi passes away
This is what one of the lady close to sabyasachi and the Bollywood celebs wrote on FB
It is so true...
“while we are all mourning the untimely demise of Sridevi, it is important to remember why this may have happened to her. society demanded that she stay slimmer/look younger than a 40 year old, 50 year old and plus 50 woman needs to be--hence, the continuous surgeries. when i met her about 5 years ago, she was beautiful but a sad version of that self that we loved so much in a movie like Chandni. What a lot of pressure to keep her weight down, to make sure that her face had no wrinkle lines....continuous clinic visits in Southern California. as a friend of mine wrote this morning...do we need a #metoo movement in fashion, #notsize0? Milan has already implemented this but these patriarchical implants were in her head -- the husband, who claimed to love her so much should have intervened, did he love the way she looked as his arm candy more than he loved her? She herself did not trust in her own beauty -- she was a clothes horse for whoever would care to dress her. What i conclude is such a lack of love for oneself that one's own lips don't suffice, one's own face is not good enough, one's flesh and blood have to be sucked out of her so that she can wear the best of couture. that is the sadness of a life that could have been lived so much better not just for her but for her daughters.”

Bollywood Star?
Think we can all claim her as ours, a true All-Indian superstar.
Lovely, talented, dignified, never lost that authentic sweetness.
The first movie I remember, was her as a child star (actually dressed as a little boy- with those big eyes!) with MGR and the song, “Nalla perai vanga vendum pillaigaley”. Her journey intertwined growing up..almost feel like we know her as a person too.
Condolences to her family and her fans, count myself as one of them.
So many favorite movies, hard to mention a few.

Pathinaru vayathinile -- that's the one I remember most and all the movies she did with Kamalahaasan. Never really followed her Hindi career. Bharathiraja sucked all the juice out of the village romance genre. Nobody can do it like he did.

Hello Max,
Me too..feel exactly like you, in this one:)
16 Vayathinaley was great for many reasons. Varumayin Niram Sigappu is one of K.Balachander’s classics, watched parts of it again last night, he explores human nature so brilliantly with such interesting characters.
Hope all is well with you.

I don't understand why people keep ripping souls all the time. It doesn't take much grey matter to realize "rip" is a homograph and not appropriate for formal occasions.

Doing well for the most part. Getting older, with all the good and bad that comes with it!
Thanks for asking.

'RIP' (an abbreviated phrase 'rest in peace') is not same as the word 'rip' meaning tear. There is no homograph between RIP and rip.OnePlus5t wrote:Seva Lamberdar wrote:Really sad! She was a great actress with a huge loyal fan base and still relatively young (54 only) to pass away. May she RIP!

A man was once prosecuted for insulting his doctor by calling him an ass. The judge let him off with a fine but explained that just because human dignity was invisible, it did not mean that one could freely trample it. Discretion, the judge advised, was necessary when dealing with them. The man was thankful but inquired of the judge if it was demeaning to call an ass a doctor? The judge laughed and said that it wasn't at all! Turning to the doctor, the man bade him goodbye with the words, "Bye doctor!"Seva Lamberdar wrote:'RIP' (an abbreviated phrase 'rest in peace') is not same as the word 'rip' meaning tear.
