fascinating read about the tendency of living (fireflies, the human sleep clock, and birds in flight) and non-living systems -- pendulums, connected electrical generators etc. to achieve synchronization to advantage. great read, but my only quibble is that the author steven strogatz has dropped all mathematics. might have been more interesting to include some math with the option of skipping.
