Sher Shah Suri is honored even today for having built what is now known as the Grand Trunk Road, which connects the eastern and western regions of North India, is the 16th century. Sher Shah introduced many administrative reforms during his brief reign which were were later copied by the mughal emperor Akbar's brilliant revenue minister Todar Mal. Some interesting historical facts about the Grand Trunk Road may be found here:

I was much pleased also to read an account of a travel to Sasaram, Sher Shah Suri's native town and the place of his tomb:

Sher Shah built the road to facilitate trade and help him better manage and administer the regions under his control. But unwittingly his building of the Grand Trunk Road also facilitated foreign invasions deep into India.
