Haha, so true. Did you ever read the book "Waiting"? Written by a Chinese which also discusses foot-binding. Thankfully that practice is no longer continued.

it's the weather. mostly street life... windows/doors open.. background noise is high.. so the high volume; also, high temperatures make people more emotional.. this i think is true for most tropical countries where the volume and drama are always high. ( singapore might be en exception)
in general, local food and weather have the most impact on their 'culture'

Imps, how's your leg doing now? I did what I promised you I'd do. Hope it worked at least a bit. Wishing you to dance away to ecstacy very soon.
thanks kin. thanks for asking. getting there, slowly but surely. After this setback, i wow never to take anything in life for granted, especially health. I am not close to anyone in my life nor do i have a set of parents to turn to whenever i am down or up. Dance is one thing that i can turn to anytime:-)

Touche!
The low productivity in places like the Indian subcontinet and Africa is related to the hot weather. It is very difficult to work hard in that kind of enervating condition. It is also typical of people in tropical countries to be out there on the streets most of the time, congregating and doing nothing. That is why the intellectual output is low compared to European countries. When you are out going from one place to another, you are not thinking.

I have made a note to watch them when I am in India next. Thanks, Impy.

Garam Kuta,
Rudyard Kipling was correct when he said "only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the Indian sun."
What he meant was that while Indians sat under shades or remained at home when it was very hot, the Englishmen because of their sense of duty went to work.

Haha you are jealous of him. I like Dhanush, He is a good actor - got a national award, good dancer and got a very familiar face. He looks like an average tamil guy who you can rely on college, or the kind who you ask an address and tell your intellectual ideas without getting smirks and laffs.
Anyways...for me my tamil hero is Vijay and tamil actor is Vijay Sethupathi in the recent times. My all time fav hero is MGR (He can be hero and also villain)
Anyways again...you are jealous and I don't like Vikram.,
My all time pass time is the one and only actor Shiva!!! If not for Shiva the tamil cini industry wouldn't have existed.

Next to Lawrence and Prabhu Deva, Vijay is most likely the best dancer there is. I also like Vijay Sethupathi. He has potential. I like Surya too.

No idea about Baghban. Have you seen Mozhi? If not, I highly recommend it. Of course, it does have a couple of song sequences that are unnecessary. Other than that it's a classic.
i looked up "mozhi" and i think i watched it a on a flight to singapore. i thought it was an idealistic, feel good, fairy tale, chick flick that will make a good V day movie. *gulp*.

haha, just google "how much does dhanush" and look at the suggestion. one answer is "60 kilos" but it does not mention if it is with his wrist watch or not.

i trust google to give me the accurate result in the very first link. that means his wrist watch weighs 4 kilos. that also explains his natural tilt towards left.

hmmm. this movie has all the elements to make such happy.
1. ashdoc and uppili saar! will finally watch a hindu boy falling in love with a muslim girl in a movie
2. rashmun will see benaras featured in a movie that features hindu-mulsim and SI-NI synthesis
3. dhanush playes an iyer (or iyengar) who has done a reverse migration to UP - that should arouse the academic interest of many tamils

Lol. In my first job, I had a boss who loved the fine things in life. He got a pack of cigars on a visit to Havana and gifted me two - my first ever exposure to cigars. I recall sitting in his patio in South Delhi one fine November evening, sipping Scaaatch, munching on yummy, hot alu parathas his mum had made and puffing away on a habana. It smelt very very different from a cigarette and required more effort to puff.
I kept the precious remaining cigar wrapped up in tissue in my wardrobe for a special occasion and forgot all about it. Some months later, I opened the package and found the cigar had disintegrated and was unusable.

What special occasion did you have in mind so you could use the remaining cigar?
