>>>Who is at fault here?
Should the teacher be sent to jail for being harsh on this kid?
For non-tamils: This is the news in nutshell. A 12 year old girl in Chennai got upset when her teacher complained to her mom that she was not working hard. She immolated herself. Now the parents want the teacher to be prosecuted.

>>>Why are only Tamils capable of deciding on the culpability (or lack thereof) of the teacher? *confused*

Poor girl. She probably was trying really hard, but did not not succeed / excel in her studies. Because of the depression and frustration due to not doing well academically, and also others not believing her working hard (including her teacher and probably the parents), she immolated herself.
Anyway, it is a serious social issue and teacher is not to be blamed entirely.

Morever, the question in this case is universal, and not just about Tamils or Indians.
How much importance should the society (especially the parents) place on the academic success of a child before he / she is driven nuts and might even end up killing himself / herself?

Can a human answer this question, or are you looking for replies only from Tamils?
