MDR, KVN, BMK (after late 70s) are so acquired tastes, like campari soda, maagani kizhanghu or sabsighE soppu and such

but the 60's young BMK with MSG or Lalgudi - priceless.

mali is an acquired taste too. agree about MDR and BMK. i thought KVN was more mainstream. yes i like the older BMK as you said.

True.
KVN with limited vocal range, is less imposing, and not exuberant at all in building up intense crescendos where people applaud, but his sophistication lies entirely in sangathis and brigAs that are brought out right at the start, in recursively expressing the pallavi.

difficult to watch this interview. it's clear he's struggling with some health crisis. can't believe the best docs in madras couldn't save this guy. sorry if i sound obsessive. i'm still having a very difficult time reconciling with the death of someone whose art i have admired for a very long time. how can this guy just go at such a young age?
