3rd test - any chance? Empty 3rd test - any chance?

Post by truthbetold Thu Dec 25, 2014 12:30 pm

Is India going to make any batting changes? They should bring in that extra batsman and bring in shami in bowling.

Either a batsmen or bowler has to play out of his skin to take India across the victory line. Tired of 3 wickets and 50 plus innings.

Australia will be relentless but showed they are human and vulnerable. But India failed to find match winners.

Do you mean remove the extra batsman and bring in Shami? Shami has been bowling poorly since the England tour so I don't see him as a useful inclusion at this time. If Bhuvi is fit then he should be included. He can swing the ball both ways and Aussie batsmen don't like that. I think Aaron will be dropped to accommodate him. But I would drop Rohit Sharma instead, as Bhuvi can make the same number of runs as him and is a wicket taking bowler as well.
That collapse in the 2nd test makes me feel that this team has checked out  mentally and would rather not play the remaining 2 tests. I expect quick, heavy defeats.

I meant a new face in place of rohit. You said there is a new guy lokesh or someone as a back batsmen. He is probably too green to be brought into the team but India needs some one with fresh blood to step in and do something spectacular to overcome a determined opposition.

2nd test batting collapse was a bad session that had something to do with the dressing room fight. Unless Indians show lot of resolve and professionalism, your feeling about checking out could be spot on. That is the reason I would like to bring in the new kid.

Shami is slipping but I would like India to persist with him.

india toiled for two hours to get breakthrough. couple of missed chances and some listless bowling. Ian chappell is going after dhoni captaincy.

Can india press home the advantage? not much help from pitch.

The Looks like continuation of previous tests, Braddin & Smith have added 43 runs thus far. Unless we can bowl Aussies out by lunch, we're in trouble.

Smith just 28 runs away from another century. And it looks like Brad Haddin's career will be revived too, with generous help from the gracious guests. 400-450 seems possible, given that Mitchell Johnson almost scored a century in the previous game.

Indian Fielding is awful and catching is sloppy. Indian bowlers are trying. Ashwin bowled well. Ishant bowled well for parts of overs. Yadav was really fast at 139 or above. Shami was not that good. But none of them caused real problems to batsmen. This is a reflection of talent India has at this time.

Add to that dhoni's chalta hai captaincy.

Considering all of the above, India did not lose the match on first day because they got David warner early.

There is a small but real possibility of India winning the test by gaining a large first innings lead.

SoothBeSold, the only way for india to win a test against Australia is to include another muslim or a carnivorous Hindu in the team. May I recommend Her Royal Roundness, Mrs Menon, who eats only meat?

What else is he gonna do? Admit that this team doesn't even believe it can win a test match abroad? Follow up a thrashing abroad with a meaningless ODI series at home for damage control is the only plan BCCI has and its agents like Shastri are only there to make some noises till the storm blows over.

Aussies allout 530.  Steve smith humiliated Indian bowling from 150 to 192. He played unorthodox shots and showed no respect for ant indian bowler. One of those shots got him out but he already got 192.

Things are as dark as it can get for India.  Defeat is written all over them now.  Will they show any fight?

sooth, australia's population is a mere 3 percent of india's, I.e., india can select its cricket team from a population that's 33 times australia's; yet witness the utter futility of the indian team!

bringing muslims and carnivorous hindus into the team is one of very few solutions to the problem. there is also the possibility of employing  strong, swift pakistanis who are not as risk-averse as the indian sissies, to bat, bowl, and field for india.

I wonder if you are also aware that australia's per-capita gdp is 833 percent of India's.

no, sooth, only flight! sooth, it's not only defeat, but also ignominy that's written all over them.

the australians should change the rules of the game and give your brahmin boyz three innings to make their first-innings score of 530.

sooth, the indian cricket team can redeem itself from ignominy if it challenges the australian team to a carroms tournament. It's a game in which there's no need to run, field, or throw. our sissy boyz will be absolutely unbeatable in it.

Yes, it was nice to see Rahane bat positively and score some runs. Time to boot out the low scoring Pujara and move either Kohli or Rahane up to 3.

beautiful drives and pull shots played by these two bats, scored nearly 5 per over. Hope both of them will score big.

He has developed a habit of slow and low scores, with the opposition keeping him under pressure with the incoming ball, which he struggles against. You can safely bet that he is not going to score a century anytime soon.

A few snippets from Cricinfo, on Rahane:
Manoj Ravi: "What an innings by Rahane! I think he's been the best overseas batsman India have. Hundreds in New Zealand, England and Australia now. And that 96 in Durban batting half the innings with tail was far better than a hundred. Take a bow, Jinks"
kv: "That makes 3 centuries and 6 half-centuries for Rahane since Johannesberg last December. All scored abroad. "
