An interesting fact about UP Brahmins
i learned something interesting about UP brahmins today from a colleague who happens to be a UP brahmin. UP brahmins comprise of sub-sects the largest of which are Kanyakubja and Saryupareen.
The fundamental difference between Saryupareen brahmins and Kanyakubja brahmins is that the former respect Lord Rama and consider Ravana to be a demon while the latter claim that Lord Rama does not deserve to be given excessive respect because he killed a brahmin (Ravana).
Needless to say this is hearsay and has to be verified.

Based on my primary research on saryuparin brahmins (sample size = 1), I hereby vouch for the first part of Rashmun's hypothesis. In the interests of furthering this important internet discourse, I urge volunteers of the Kanyakubja persuasion to step forward to be subjected to our research rigor.

Let the kanyakubjas be forewarned that they shall be clubbed with Ravan-worshiping atheists if they do come forward for this research.Merlot Daruwala wrote:Propagandhi711 wrote:terrific information on up brahmins indeed. godspeed on the verification - boots on the ground, am assuming?
