you should also spend sometime convincing remaining sulekha users to join SuCH.
you dont seriously expect people to talk about same things in two different forums, do you?
bring ts,qb,kripa, sandaliya and other kids here if you wanna exercise your persuasive skills.

why are you getting so defensive? i didn't say its competing. but there's already a thread on jaspal bhatti on this forum. why would you expect us to discuss him on another forum? and i mean among the same set of people. almost.
on other forums, like reddit for example, there are other people and different views etc. so its ok to mayb remember him there once.
now pls bring the missing people to this forum so we can all talk about flop show. all in one place.

the bhatti thread on http://sulekha.forumotion.com is very different. in that thread, specific instances of Bhatti's social satire are given. That is the ultimate tribute you can give to any artist--celebrate his art.

and why can't that be posted here? no one else is posting there anyway. complimenting or not, it's too much work posting on two similar looking websites. and confusing. i know if i started posting on both sites, i'll forget where i wrote what and may repeat stuff on the same forum. it will be very boring. i thot qb n ts et al were discussing there but they're not. so why can't u celebrate art on the JB thread here?

QB is in fact posting on that forum. She prefers not to post here. Personally i prefer to post in various forums so that i can interact with as many people as possible.

then you should do just that! visit different forums and talk to as many people as you can.
why invite same people that you are interacting with on one forum to interact with them on a different forum? (hint: you don't have to answer me. it's a rhetorical question.)

because i would enjoy observing the interaction of member X of a forum i visit with member Y of another forum i visit if i have enjoyed interacting with both X and Y.

If you were concerned about people not copying the logo you claim to have created you should not have kept the Indian national flag as your logo. I am as much of an Indian as you and the Indian flag is as dear to me as it is to you.

Re: Remembering Jaspal Bhatti
The Indian national flag is not the logo. The logo uses the flag as one of its design elements. The color, font, words, and the location and shape of the flag are all distinctive elements of the logo that were created by me.Rashmun wrote:panini press wrote:You did copy a logo that I had created. Let me remind you of what someone called Rashmun said a while ago:
This would have been a valid criticism if the logo would have been designed by Charvaka. Except that it is not. The logo being used on the such.forumotion.com and http://sulekha.forumotion.com boards is taken from the chaikaapi forum.
https://such.forumotion.com/t2740-a-warning#23710
Now you do know that chaikaapi is my forum and the logo was designed by me. So you changed your tune. No surprises there.

After discussing this issue with a member of http://sulekha.forumotion.com i have changed my view on this issue. The person with whom i discussed this issue convinced me that it is not possible to claim copyright over the Indian national flag and that you should have shown some originality and come up with your own original logo instead of making the Indian national flag as your logo.

The fact is, you are imitating the exact look and feel of this forum, down to the lettering and font of Coffeehouse, and the stylized Indian flag (not the original flag). It is possible to claim copyright over the image that I created, with the name, font, lettering and color in it.Rashmun wrote:that it is not possible to claim copyright over the Indian national flag and that you should have shown some originality and come up with your own original logo instead of making the Indian national flag as your logo.

ok. who can stop you.
but think about this. if that interesting thread has other people contributing to it and not just you. posting alone. then post it here. bcz otherwose u can simply post that interesting topic here for everyone to read n reply.
imagine having to create a new id ( even if it takes 2 min to do so) just to respond to you. it will be easy to respond here. dont u think?

Since you have kept the Indian national flag as part of your logo, you are not permitted to copyright it. You should have shown some originality and refrained from keeping the Indian national flag as your logo. Furthermore, the 'skin' of the forum on https://such.forumotion.com and on http://sulekha.forumotion.com is one of several options available. I liked this particular 'skin' and so opted for it. I don't see why you should get upset by my doing so.

You and QB can't make up copyright law. The logos of Air France, US Airways, Korean Air, etc. all contain stylized versions of their respective national flags, and they are all copyrighted.Rashmun wrote:Since you have kept the Indian national flag as part of your logo, you are not permitted to copyright it.

Laws are different from country to country. For instance it is legally permitted to burn the U.S. national flag but it is illegal to burn the Indian national flag. Also, it is legally not permitted to copyright even a stylized version of the Indian national flag.

Good point. My best memory of Jaspal Bhatti was from his Flop Show. He had an opening segment where Bhatti is sitting in a vehicle with his wife. He says to her, "it has been a long-time dream for me to take my wife out on a sarkari gaDDi and that is realized today so I am so happy, etc. etc." and the camera zooms out to show that they are on a road-roller.Natalia Romanova wrote:not a peep about jaspal bhatti on this thread so far. shameful.
